Director of Education

Silicon Valley FACES builds an inclusive and caring community, free of bias and bigotry, by bringing people together through educational programs and serving victims of crime.  This non-profit agency is headquartered in San Jose and has been serving Santa Clara County for 45 years.  We have an immediate opportunity for a Director of Education to join our team to further our mission. 

This newly-created position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for providing the leadership that will drive the development and implementation of strategies for program expansion.  The Director will also look at opportunities to coordinate and integrate existing programs, serve as a liaison to the community for SV FACES and be responsible for building strong partnerships and support for SV FACES programs.

The Director of Education will manage the program staff, facilitators and volunteers and directing and mobilizing the creativity of program staff to deliver exceptional SV FACES’ educational programs to the community. This is a “working manager” role which includes controlling the budget, implementing policies and procedures participating in obtaining funds/grants, and facilitation of programs   

This role requires: 

  • Bachelor’s level education, but related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
  • Five or more years in managing one or more large programs
  • Experience in staff or volunteer management
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to offsite workshops, camps and events

We desire:

  • Master’s degree in education or nonprofit management preferred
  • Experience working in the area of diversity or other social justice issues
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred

The successful candidate will have:

  • Commitment to the mission of SV FACES
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Strong sales and marketing ability to build support for our programs through partnerships in the community
  • Organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning skills
  • Excellent people skills, ability to negotiate, an awareness of sensitive political issues, and the ability to contribute as a member of the management team
  • Personal qualities of integrity and credibility

The selected candidate must complete a rigorous background investigation which includes fingerprinting.
