Mission Statement

Silicon Valley FACES is the proud new name for Silicon Valley Conference for Community & Justice, which was founded in 1965 as the regional office of The National Conference of Christians and Jews (but is not affiliated with NCCJ). SV FACES is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism in the South Bay Area and Northern California. SV FACES helps build communities based on understanding and respect for diversity, and justice for all of us

After a year of searching, we’ve settled on a brand new name. The agency mission, all our programs,  and our people are the same. We’re just making it easier to say and to remember who we are!

Gala Fundraising Dinner Event
"Inspired by a Dream"

Over 400 Silicon Valley business and civic leaders networked, dined, and even prayed together to celebrate the "43rd Annual Silicon Valley Exemplary Community Leadership Awards." 2008 Chairs Tim Guertin (CEO Varian Medical Systems) and Mike Fister (CEO Cadence Design) installed Honorees: Dr. Dick Levy (Board Chairman Varian & United Way of Silicon Valley), Denise DeBartolo York and Dr. John York and the San Francisco 49ers RESPECT Campaign.

The "SV FACES Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student Contest" is a youth development program to honor and encourage leadership for a multi-cultural society through major diversity role models. The students creatively interpret Dr. King's teachings for their generation.

Ashley RaggioAshley Raggio has been named as the new Coordinator for the Building Connections Program (formerly "Growing Circle"), SV FACES' program for elementary school students that lays the foundation for a life of appreciation of self and others, for conflict prevention and resolution.

SV FACES 3 Year
Religious Holidays Calendar Available

SV FACES has gathered in one document:

  1. 2007-9 dates of holidays for most religious traditions
    in the Bay Area;
  2. descriptions of the holidays;
  3. notes on applicable work, schedule or dietary restrictions; and
  4. notes on how to navigate religious observances
    between religions.

This calendar will enable employers, schools and governments to better manage requests for consideration for religious observances across our very diverse society.

Companion guidelines for school administrators and a handy guide for teachers are also available.
