SVCCJ is becoming Silicon Valley FACES “Our faces are different, our needs are the same:
After a year of searching, we’ve settled on a brand new name. The agency mission, all our programs, and our people are the same. We’re just making it easier to say and to remember who we are! It isn’t easy to “rebrand” a 43 year old success. We found that we needed a new identifier to go along with our independent status – one that would be easy to associate with what we do. You can see it in the graphic in our logo, those faces that show diversity. You can see it in the faces of people whose lives we change for the better every year. We asked so many of our friends what we should call ourselves. There were many great ideas. We kept running into the fact that so many terrific names are already taken, copyrighted, and their web addresses occupied. At long last we realized that the key was in one of our program itself. When you see faces of people flashed on a screen and you realize you’ve made an instant judgment about them – often wrong – you come to understand the power of prejudice in our lives. Our faces are the first thing we notice about each other. The difference is what we see first; then we learn that underneath those faces we share the same feelings, the same human needs. And to make a successful community together we need to share those differences in a way that makes our common humanity stand out while not denying our unique identities. “Our faces are different, our needs are the same: equality, respect and justice!” (PS- You can still find us at the same address, phone, fax and for the time being same emails as before.) |
