News and Editorials 49ers owners win award for RESPECT campaign By Sal Pizarro The Silicon Valley Conference for Community and Justice is honoring figures from the worlds of health care and sports this May. Varian Medical Systems Chairman Richard Levy and 49ers owners Denise and John York will be the recipients of the non-profit's 43rd annual Exemplary Community Leadership Awards. It's a slam-dunk honor for Levy, who is also vice chairman of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation board and co-chair of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network's Smart Health Initiative. The Yorks are being lauded for the 49ers' RESPECT campaign, which leverages the NFL team's brand to teach young people the importance of respecting their families, schools and communities.
