An opportunity for college-age adults and community members who want to be involved in our schools and to share an empowering four-day retreat experience with local high school youth. Six to ten retreat staff persons are needed for each Everytown retreat. Everytown is a leadership training program where multicultural groups of high school students come together to create a community in which the barriers of race, religion, gender, culture, and ethnicity no longer act to separate. Student delegates are chosen based on their leadership potential; some are already on the track of traditional high achievement; others are acting out leadership in non-traditional ways. The goal is to empower all participants to be catalysts for breaking down racism, religious and ethnic discrimination, and intolerance in all its forms, thus helping to prevent and reduce incidents of community violence.
